UN-CMCoord eCourse
The United Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CMCoord) eCourse is an online learning experience that brings together practitioners and experts to discuss UN-CMCoord concepts and principles and their practical applications in responding to natural disasters and complex emergency settings.
Based on the UN-CMCoord Field Handbook, this course provides a well-rounded and interactive approach to learning and is accessible to all organizations and individuals interested in the topic of humanitarian civil-military coordination.
The UN-CMCoord eCourse was launched in November 2015 in Geneva. By December 2019, it has awarded over 4300 certificates !
Content
Chapters I and II summarize key humanitarian concepts and coordination mechanisms and outline their relevance and links to the CMCoord function.
Chapter III gives an overview of military organizations, mandates, concepts and military staff functions that could serve as the UN-CMCoord Officer’s counterpart.
Chapter IV is an aide memoire for the relevant CMCoord guidelines and principles; it summarizes the key considerations and explains the roles and responsibilities of OCHA and CMCoord Officers in implementing the guidelines.
Chapters V and VI provide guidance on how to implement the CMCoord tasks in natural disasters and complex emergencies, respectively.
